Pete Yorn at Milwaukee Pabst Theater

Friday evening I had the privilege to join a couple girlfriends for the Pete Yorn concert at the Milwaukee Pabst Theater located on Water Street, Downtown. The show was lower level only, and general admission. I LOVE general admission. It allows me to be able to stand in front of the stage as one always should do during a rock concert.

Had not my girlfriends invited me to attend, I would had been more inclined to see Kings Go Forth at Turner Hall,

But I honestly enjoyed his soft grunge jams.

Yorn appeared a little disheveled... unshaven and hair pleading to be trimmed. That tends to happen through out a tour.

Safe Travels.

Mathew's Birthday

Last Saturday I ventured up to Deforest slightly north of Madison. Mathew turned seven years young and had a celebration. I gave him a comic book, Calamity Jack written by Shannon and Dean Hale, Illustrated by Nathon Hale. There is a worthy review of the book by a fellow blogger, Becky's Book Reviews

I also gave Mathew a leather wallet that has a horse portrait with real horse hair. The wallet contained five whole dollars too! I hope he liked the gifts. I know I could feed his obsession of trains, but I guess I thrive on the challenge to find other fun gifts for him.

Mathew of course, focused on his trains. This train derailed due to 'table' shaking tremors.

My niece Amber cozzied up with Anabelle

Three birthday parties to attend in March. There will be a Tea Party Birthday, a Bouncy House Super Hero Birthday Party and another one in Chicago. Life doesn't slow down. Not even during the brunt of winter.

La Casa de la Bruja (The Witch's House)

After Anabelle's school, we would walk to a cafe.
She would enjoy her jugo de mora.
I would have my double espresso.
Across the street, on a corner is this home.
Untouched for years.
La Casa de la Bruja
they call it

I am intrigued by the neglect of the home and the grandeur it may have once held
I think of the woman who still lives there
alone... staring out onto the changing world around her

The house is ignored and feared

I think of Miss Havisham... in her Bridal Gown
did this 'witch' have the same outcome?

Blessed be the lady
tip toe
bare feet
blessed be her dreams
lost in memory like the seeds blown
past this street
blown down down to the valley
and burried

Back in Brew Town

I've Returned
to fresh cold air
snow
boots
down feather coats

I've returned
to snow crunching steps
salt sided cars
sunless days

I've returned to snow days
cold toes
toasty homes

I'm not a fan of cold
yet. it reminds me I'm home
